FAQ
Does anything get uploaded to a server?
No. The entire QR generation algorithm runs in your browser using pure JavaScript and the HTML5 Canvas API. Your content never leaves your device.
What is error correction and which level should I choose?
Error correction lets a QR code be scanned even if part of it is damaged or obscured. Level M (15%) is a good default for most uses. Use H (30%) if you plan to add a logo over the code. Use L for short URLs where size matters.
How long can the text or URL be?
Up to around 500–900 characters depending on the error correction level. For URLs, virtually any length works. Very long strings will require a higher QR version (larger matrix) but the tool handles this automatically.
Can I use a custom foreground or background colour?
Yes. Use the colour pickers to choose any foreground and background combination. Make sure there is sufficient contrast — light on dark or dark on light — for reliable scanning.
What format is the downloaded file?
PNG with the resolution you selected (256, 512 or 1024 px square). PNG is lossless, so it's ideal for print, digital and embedding in documents.
